Snowman quilt is finished!

Image
I finished the blocks a long time ago but didn’t sew them together because I didn’t know how I would quilt it. I was stymied. 2023 rolled around and it was 10 years old and needed to be completed. I was surprised when I pulled it out to see that I had made an extra block. I thought I would use all the extra fabric and piece the backing; but that was so cute I turned it into its own quilt and gave it to Ann. So last week I took it to Cherry’s house, threw it on her long arm machine and quilted it and I love it! I brought it home and bound it and now it is complete.

Catching Up 2013

I have done a few things around the house lately and thought I'd show them here.  First, for my birthday, I got a 1950s credenza from a yard sale for $15.00!  Yay!  I also got a "fainting couch" from an Estate Sale in great condition and perfect for my sewing room.  So, I added both to the sewing room , which took a lot of rearranging, and badabing, badaboom, a fabulous new look: The view from the door, to the left. Panning to the right. Continuing to the right. The sewing machine right next to the door.  The ironing board stored.   Super comfy fainting couch.  Perfect for napping while I watch TV. The corner behind the door. One Sunday, while listening to the talks in Sacrament Meeting, I heard this great quote from Plato regarding self-control.  The talk was about fasting.  It was a really good talk.  So, I asked, Sister Gina McQueen for a copy of the quote and cut it out in vinyl and hung it on the ceiling going down the stairs.  Chris sa

Emily and I went to a furniture store open house one evening last week, and their Xmas decs were all greenery and red glass balls.  I loved it, so I bought some ornaments and thought I'd update some old greenery.  What do you think?

This was fun.

Pumpkin pie

We got one pumpkin out of our garden this summer.  It was smallish.  I cut the corn stalks and tied them together and put them on the front porch with the little pumpkin next to them foe decoration for October.  November 1st I threw out the cornstalks and moved the pumpkin to the other side of the door, and I thought, "I wonder what it takes to make pumpkin pie from a real pumpkin."  So, thanks to google, I found a  Website , and, voila!  Mike and I made two of the most delicious pumpkin pies in the history of our pumpkin pies!  No time to take a photo, one is history, the other is in the freezer!

Owl Hat

Ann and her roommate, Sarah, want owl hats.  I found a pattern for children, so I made it a little bigger, but it is a little too big.  This is the prototype.  I'm glad I made it, theirs will work up a little faster.
